About Us
Our
Story
In January 2001, Apostle Rick Dean was called into full-time Pastoral Ministry. The call and commission were to “Build an Ark”; a people and place, the family of God. Having shared the vision, several faith-filled believers stepped out in expectation with Apostle Rick and his wife Gay to birth Family of Faith Ministries International. Our first Board of Directors consisted of Apostle Dean, Joseph Sweeting, Andrew Wong, Annette Bethel, Brenda Pratt, Geno Maycock, and Jefferson Turner.
Our first service was held in the Kingsway Auditorium, on Sunday, July 1st, 2001.
Family of Faith became affiliated with the International Third World Leaders Association on August 16th, 2001. I.T.W.L.A is a global network of Christian leaders and organizations from over fifty nations. Five months after starting in Kingsway, we relocated to our new home of worship on Jerome Avenue. The first service was held on December 9th, 2001. The dedication service led by Dr Myles Munroe was held on January 20th, 2002.
We immediately began searching for a property to call our own, and on May 29th, 2002 made a deposit on 3.9 acres in Monastery Heights Sub-Division. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 23rd, 2005. July 17th, 2006 contracts were signed for the commencement of construction of the Family of Faith Worship and Community Centre. Once partial construction of the edifice was completed, we moved to the new site and worshipped the Lord in our new home on January 20th, 2008.
In the past 20 years, we have seen many persons come to know Jesus Christ as Savior. We have witnessed our members come to know Him as Lord. God has caused the development of spiritual growth to effect change in our homes, community, and several of the Family Islands. In conclusion, please be mindful that this history is a record of some events, and cannot quantify the impact of His ministry to and through His people.
Our journey continues…..
About
Apostle
Ricardo Dean was born at Rock Sound, Eleuthera, the Bahamas in 1958. At age four he moved to New Providence with his parents, Richard and Iris Dean. Ricardo attended Government High School, graduating in 1975. Following two years of exploring training for the teaching profession, he took on the exciting career of broadcasting at the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas.
During his seven-year tenure, Rick Dean worked as a reporter, radio sports announcer, cameraman, and eventually television sports anchor. In 1983 his promising career was cut short by drug abuse and addiction. Ricardo then entered Teen Challenge, Jacksonville, Florida where he found new life in Christ. A four-year education at Lee University earned him a Bachelor of Arts in communication.
Upon his graduation in 1988, Rick was asked to join the staff of Teen Challenge Bahamas and accepted. He was appointed Director in 1989 and served in that capacity until December 2000. In 2001 his service to God’s people continued in his new position as Pastor of Family of Faith Ministries International. In 2012 he was appointed a Trustee of the International Third World Leaders Association.
In 2016 he was appointed to the Presbytery of the International Association of Kingdom Churches and Ministries. Pastor Rick married Gay Newbold Dean in 1988 and the couple has two boys Richard and Rico.
He has written two books, “How are the mighty fallen”, and “Wisdominion”.
